چکیده
The present study focuses on the influence of a 5-pass overlapped friction stir lap welding AA6061-T6 mitigation defects and its simultaneous effect microstructure mechanical properties. Tool pin overlapping percentage 0%, 25%, 50% 75% was employed, from which it observed that significantly reduced at higher overlapping. Fine equiaxed grains were across all nugget zones in both top, bottom regions developed due to passes; grain size varied 8.5 µm 3.5 µm. became finer, increased percentage. microhardness processed zone during range 43 HV0.1 49 as compared base metal interpreted changes secondary precipitate distribution A maximum ultimate tensile strength 230 MPa achieved overlapping, whereas minimum 160 0% Fractography fracture surface showed ductile failure number dimples varying shapes sizes.

Multi-Track Friction Stir Lap Welding of 2024 Aluminum Alloy: Processing, Microstructure and Mechanical Properties
Friction stir lap welding (FSLW) raises the possibility of fabricating high-performance aluminum components at low cost and high efficiency. In this study, we mainly applied FSLW to fabricate multi-track 2024 aluminum alloy without using tool tilt angle, which is important for obtaining defect-free joint but significantly increases equipment cost. Firstly, systematic single-track FSLW experimen...

The ultrafine grained (UFGed) 1050 Al plates with a thickness of 2 mm, which were produced by the accumulative roll bonding technique after five cycles, were friction stir butt welded to 2 mm thick 6061-T6 Al alloy plates at a different revolutionary pitch that varied from 0.5 to 1.25 mm/rev. In the stir zone, the initial nano-sized lamellar structure of the UFGed 1050 Al alloy plate transforme...
متن کاملEffect of friction stir welding parameters on the microstructure and mechanical properties of dissimilar AA2024-AA6061 joints
In the present study, to resolve the problems in fusion welding methods as well as to increase the strength, FSW method was used to join aluminum alloy sheets 6061 and 2024. Moreover, optimal parameters for joining of these two alloys were also taken into consideration. Various tool rotation speeds of 565, 950 and 1500 rpm were selected. For each tool rotation speed, two traverse speed variable...
متن کاملA study on the sub-structure and mechanical properties of friction stir processed AA 6061-T6 joints with ultra-fine grained structure
Ultra-fine grained (UFG) structure (~0.6 µm) was produced in the stir zone (SZ) of 6061-T6 aluminum alloy joints using friction stir processing (FSP) cooled by liquid nitrogen (N2). A new experimental set-up was used to simultaneously quench the lower and upper surfaces of the samples during the processing. In addition, FSPed joints, using a steel backing plate, were produced at room temperatur...
متن کاملEffect of Heat Input on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties in Friction Stir Welding of HSLA-60
High-strength low alloy steels are a class of steels used in applications that require high strength and good weldability, including ship hulls, gas pipelines and oil industry. One way to build parts is fusion welding that create areas with a large grain size in the heat-affected zone and increased susceptibility to hydrogen cracking. One way to solve this problem is to use solid state friction...
